JAAC: Kwara 16LGs gets N504.7m for August

The 16 local government areas of Kwara State have shared a total sum of N504, 751, 311.26 for the month of August.
Also, N900 million was released for the payment of State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) teachers’ salary.
The ALGON Chairman who is also Transition Implementation Chairman of Ilorin South LG, ,Alhaja Funmilayo Salau, made the disclosure at the monthly Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting held at Ministry of Finance, Ilorin.
According to her, the figure included the 10 per cent of the state government’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) distributable for the month, representing N55, 192, 611.60.
The Chairman said that the total amount distributable among the 16 LGs after deductions in line with law guiding JAAC stood at N504,751,311.26.
Salau explained that statutory allocation for month of August stood at N1,424,951,058.78 as against N2,158, 751,253.97 received in July ;10 per cent IGR from state government, N55,192,611.61 as against N35,096,550.68 in July.
She explained further that the fund was appropriated in line with law guiding the local government account which included; Teachers salary N900,000,000;LG and LGEA pension N226,241,627.45 among others.
“The gross statutory allocation for the LGs stands at N1, 424, 951, 058.78, Value Added Tax (VAT) N432,394,623.32.
“N900, 000,000 was appropriated for the payment of Basic Education teachers’ salary, while the sum of N226, 241, 627.45 was allocated for LG pensioners’ arrears,”she stated .
She said that N273, 114, 949.65 was deducted at source as repayment for the LGs previous borrowings from the banks.
She however, assured that the state government would continue to make concerted efforts to ensure prompt payment of workers,according to her, the committee also agreed that 61.2 per cent of salary should be paid to all local government staff.
