Kwara Utd feeders’ team’s chair laments promotion failure

The Chairman of Kwara United feeders’ team, Alhaji Saliu Babatunde Afase has described the inability of the team to secure promotion to the Nigerian National League (NNL) as painful.
Afase, who stated this while speaking with journalists in Ilorin over the weekend said it was unfortunate that the team failed to secure a promotion ticket to the Nigeria National League (NNL) as the team fought hard throughout the season.
“My team was on to top of the table in its group till the end of the competition.
“Our hope was however dashed when we lost by a lone goal to the Nigeria Air Force (NAF) FC in a play-off match at Ijebu Ode,” he said.
Despite the setback the club boss appreciated the fans for their support during last season calling on them not to turn their back on the team.
“Well, irrespective of who and what was responsible for our non-qualification to the NNL, we thank everyone for their concern and we must above all appreciate our Kwara fans.
“We particularly appreciate the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Baba Yusuf, for his moral and financial support as well as his encouragement all the time from the beginning to the end.”
Afase, also lauded the state Commissioner for Sports, Mr. Bolakale Ayo Nuhu and the President of the Kwara United, Prince Oladimeji Thompson for their relentless efforts.
He congratulated the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed on the promotion of Kwara United to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
