Nigerian man with earphone on, crushed to death by train in Italy
A Nigerian, Benson Uchenna Nwughala, was crushed to death by a fast-moving train at a train station in San Romano, Montopoli, Italy, around 5.30 pm on Monday.
According to Italian newspaper, Gonews, instead of using the underpass, 31-year-old Nwughala was said to have crossed the tracks with headphones in his ear and did not notice an oncoming train, which was in transit at a very high speed because it wasn’t meant to stop at the station.
Apparently, the people there tried to warn Nwughala, who is fondly called Bun by friends but the graduate of Banking and Finance from the University of Benin, Edo State, couldn’t hear them.
According to a family source, Nwughala went out with his friends to have fun and was three bus stops away to his home when the accident happened.
Ever since his demise became public knowledge, friends and families of Nwughala have taken to his Facebook to express their shock over the incident.
A Facebook user, Ovieya Odoki, while lamenting the sad news, said, “You usually call me your daughter and I laugh. Two weeks ago, you bragged about how your dreadlocks have grown longer than mine.
“The last message you sent to me few days ago, I couldn’t reply because I was busy.
“What happened to you Bun Benson? I saw our classmates posting RIP on your wall, is this what life is all about?.”
Another Facebook user, Akudo Michael, who claimed to be the deceased’s best friend said, “We chat on Whatsapp on Monday and he is always with me anytime I need someone to talk to.”
