The day I will never forget in a hurry was when I was almost docked by a Judge. As a young lawyer, I never knew the implications of just taking up cases without having deep knowledge of it. Someone approached me that he had a case and that I should help him handle it.
While handling the matter, I discovered that there were fraudulent things that could indict the lawyer handling the case. But I was trying to argue and convince the Judge to see some reasons and the sincerity of the matter. It got to a point when the judge discovered that, in the processes filed, there were some dispositions that were made on oath and it is an offence to lie under  oath moreso as a lawyer.
The Judge got angry and said he was going to dock me, but with the intervention of other lawyers in the court, he shielded his sword and I was not docked. From that day, I learnt a lesson that it is not every case one  embraces as a lawyer, reason being that, one don’t know the intricacies  surrounding it.
