Kwara AG, Ajibade, 29 others to be decorated SAN, today

The Kwara State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Kamaldeen Ajibade with 29 others will today be decorated as Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen.
Recall that Ajibade and two other legal practitioners from the academic section; Prof. Muhammed Mustapha Akanbi and Prof. Rasheed Jimoj Ijaodola were earlier shortlisted in May from Kwara State for admission into the rank of SAN.
But, only Ajibade’s name was later announced as the successful candidate for the elevation.
In a recent interview with this medium, Ajibade expressed his delight over the development adding that it is the wish of every professional to get to the pinnacle of his career.
He stressed further that his tenacious spirit has earned him the honour saying he had applied several times before he was finally considered.
A statement by the Director of Press and Information, Supreme Court, Dr Festus Akande, on Tuesday, said the conferment of SAN on the lawyers was part of the events lined up to mark the commencement of 2017 / 2018 legal year.
The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee had on July 6 announced Kwara State AG, among the 30 successful candidates to be awarded the prestigious rank.
Among those to be conferred with the SAN honour are; the Alliance for Democracy’s candidate in the last governorship election in Ondo State and a former National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Olusola Oke.
Also, a former Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice in Ogun State and a brother to the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, Akinlolu Osinbajo; former director – General of the Nigerian Copyright Commission , Prof Adebambo Adewepo ; and the Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies , Prof Adedeji Adekunle, were on the list
The only female among the successful applicants is Oluwatoyin Bashorun.
