20 Ways to prevent robbery


  1. Delete or disable all bank SMS or email alerts in your phones.
  2. Minimise the number of ATM cards you carry. Carry just one preferably with low cash balance.
  3. Be very conscious of any commercial bus you enter especially at night.
  4. Make sure all mobile money apps on your phones are well hidden. Robbers could go through your phones and      force you to transfer all your money to theirs via your                        mobilemoney app.
  5. Withdrawal via ATMs should be done latest Friday afternoon when banks are still open. Also have the phone             number of at least one staff member in your bank.
  6. Avoid withdrawing cash on weekends especially in lonely and relatively less secure environments.
  7. If unfortunately you fall victim, please don’t give them a fake ATM PIN. People have been shot because of this. Your life is more valuable than money.
  8. Be very prayerful and committed to God. Unless the Lord watches over a city, the watchmen watch in vain so stay             focused on the real protector, God.
  9. Establish opening and closing procedures and train your employees on those procedures.
  10. If possible, have two or more employees present during opening and closing time.
  11. Establish a cash protection system. Only keep a minimum amount of cash on hand.
  12. Employees should not handle large amounts of cash while visible to the public.
  13. If possible, make bank deposits during the day with two people.
  14. Vary your the route to the bank. Go to the bank at different times and don’t stop along the way.
  15. Ensure that your business’ interior and exterior are well lit and visible from the street.
  16. Install physical barriers between employees and customers, such as protective glass.
  17. Install surveillance camera equipment. Hang signs that announce you have camera surveillance.
  18. Install a silent alarm system with a hidden panic button that notifies the security company if trouble occurs.
  19. Train employees to watch for and report suspicious people and activity.
  20. Install signs that announce you have little cash on hand. Also install signs that announce that you have a security system.
