MY MOST DRAMATIC DAY IN COURT

 

Day respondent appeared in court after I submitted she was nowhere to be found

Muftau Olusola Olobi had his first degree in Law from the University of Lagos in 2006. He proceeded to the Nigeria Law School same year and was called to bar in 2007. Afterwards, he had a brief stint in the Chamber of his former lecturer, Professor Gbenga Akindehin from 2007 to 2009. Following the death of his father, he returned to Kwara State where he established his Law firm, Olusola Olobi & Co situated in Offa. There are so many days that are significant to me in this practice but the one that is most memorable was a divorce suit held at the Ipaja Customary Court, Lagos.

The petitioner is a son to a former police officer and who happened to be current CSO of First Bank at the headquarter. He was the officer that arrested the notorious armed robber, Lawrence Anini.

The case was filed in court, it was a divorce proceedings. We tried to serve the subpoena but we could not get the respondent.

I told the court that we could not locate the respondent, meanwhile the order for sufficient service had been invented. But little did I know that respondent had entered the court with me. I told the court about the concerted efforts we made to reach her but lo and behold she announced her appearance. I was shocked, she later informed the court that she was not HIV carrier.
