Man City new No. 72, who wants to play for Eagles, makes UYL debut
The highly-rated midfielder Tom Dele-Bashiru made his debut for Manchester City in the UEFA Youth League as they beat Ukrainian outfit Shakhtar Donetsk 3-1 at the Academy Stadium on Tuesday.
Dele-Bashiru, who inherited Kelechi Iheanacho’s number 72 jersey at the Citizens following the striker’s transfer to Leicester City, was in action for ninety minutes before he was replaced by Diallo.
Though the youngster did not register his name on the score-sheet, he showed flashes of brilliance and had an effort on goal in the 67th minute.
Manchester City scored twice in the second half through Phillip Foden and Taylor Richards, while Yakymets halved the deficit for the Ukrainians on 53 minutes.
Dele-Bashiru has been capped by England at U16 level, but has refused to rule out playing for the Super Eagles in the near future.
Tosin Adarabioyo made 19 appearances for Manchester City in the UEFA Youth League before he became ineligible for the competition.
