The Kwara State Government has said it is opened to partnership with potential investors on energy, human capital development, agriculture and entrepreneurs.
The state Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed made the call while receiving the British Deputy High Commissioner, Lagos, Laure Beaufils who paid him a courtesy call at the Government House, Ilorin on Tuesday.
He stated that the commitment of his administration towards building economic prosperity in the state by encouraging Public Private Partnership through the already existing enabling environment.
Gov Ahmed said the state government is opened for partnership with any investor in an attempt to open up the state for economic prosperity.
The Governor explained that his government had put in place several infrastructures in order to make the state haven for investors.
He also called on investors to come and take advantage of the enabling environment in the state to grow their businesses.
Ahmed further said his government expected investors to take advantage of the enabling environment to build alternative energy support scheme through solar.
The Governor who identified lack of electricity as a greatest impediment to the economic advancement of any nation, explained that the state opted for solar energy supporting system in order to boost the state’s economy.
The Governor therefore, outlined the negative effects of lack of steady power supply, saying that it undercuts productivity, causing havoc to overall economic growth and development.
He promised to create a desirable interface for potential investors in agriculture, maintaining that there are huge untapped potentials in the agricultural sector.
He explained that agriculture offered better alternative and capable of reviving the country’s troubled economy, drastically reduce her over dependence crude oil and create platform for revenue generation.
“A state economy cannot grow beyond the capacity of the infrastructure that serves it. Good infrastructure yields a prospering economy. And weak infrastructure relegates the economy, so, this is what inform our embassy on infrastructure development.
The British Deputy Commissioner, Miss Laure Beaufils had in her remarks told the Governor that she was on a two day visit to kwara state, explaining that the British government will focus on areas of economic prosperity, commercial and trade.
