Saki Chief Imam suspended over unethical attitude

The Chief Imam of Saki village, in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulmumini Muhammed Bashir has been suspended by the Council of Ulama of Ilorin Emirate over unethical attitude.
Bashir’s suspension was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh (Dr) Muhammed Bashir and personally signed by him on Friday, October 13, 2017.
“The Council of Ulama(Ilorin Emirate) has been informed of your unethical attitude relating to your duties as the Chief Imam of Saki,” the statement reads, adding that activities of Bashir if not checked may lead to religious violence in the Emirate.
“The Council also authentic information that you have been threatening court actions against the traditional head of Saki (Magaji) including the law abiding citizens of the area.
“It is in view of the above facts that you are advised to proceed on suspension for six months from the date of this letter.”
The Chief Imam was however warned against leading Juma’at services in Saki in order for peace to reign and to allow for meaningful reconciliation.
Confirming the development last night, the Magaji Nda and the spokesperson of the Emir of Ilorin said, “It is true the Saki Chief Imam had been suspended to avoid religious crisis in the area and the state at large.
“The letter of his suspension which was signed by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Mohammed Bashir had been delivered to him at the weekend and he acknowledged the receipt himself,” Magaji Nda disclosed.
Meanwhile, the Ilorin Emirate Magaji/Alangua Forum has applauded the Council of Ulama (Ilorin Emirate) under the leadership of Imam Mohammed Bashir for the suspension of the Saki Imam.
The Forum in a statement jointly signed it Chairman, Alh. Abdulwahab Sanni and Secretary, the Alh. Saliu Woru Mohammed, appreciated the support of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu Gambari on the decision while urging the council to thoroughly screen any Islamic scholar before being appointed Imam in the state.
Furthermore, the Forum appealed to the residents of Saki to go about their daily activities and report any suspicious actions to the police.
The Forum also congratulated former Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board, boss, Alhaji Ladi Hassan on his appointment as the Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority while also lauding the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki for the appointment.
