There seems to be a renewed crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode and a chieftain of the party kicked against the zoning formula of the party’s leadership last night.

Fani-Kayode, on Channels Television programme, ‘Politics Today’ monitored in Ilorin by this medium yesterday, insisted against the decision of the party that the position of the president should be thrown opened.

According to him, the party needs credible and trustworthy candidates that can face the impunity of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and also progress the course of the party.

Recall that the minister had once thourn his weight and declared support for Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State when he declared his intention to run for the position of the presidency come 2019.

“I stood with Gov. Fayose because, unlike most, he has courage,” Kayode had said.

The former President Goodluck Jonathan’s campaign manager also argued that the position of the party chairmanship should come from the South-West.

He said the party should consider the choice of former governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel for the position of the party chairman in the PDP convention in December.

“We need a good person with unquestionable character that can stand against the tyrannical rule of the present government. Somebody who will not be a traitor…we don’t want a compromiser…”, he stressed.
