Man mobbed for motorcycle theft in Ilorin
A middle aged man whose identity could not be ascertained as at press time, was last Thursday beaten to a coma for stealing a motorcycle at Taiwo area, Ilorin, Kwara State, Pilot Crime learnt.
The suspect was said to have stolen the motorcycle from where it was parked at about 9am on fateful day.
It was gathered that the suspect was nabbed by people within the vicinity while trying to escape with the motorcycle.
“People in area sighted the suspect while he was trying to escape with the motorcycle, he was given a hot chase and when they caught up with him, he was beaten to a state of coma.
“He was however saved from being lynched by police officers from the ‘B’ division, Surulere and taken to the hospital for treatment,” a source disclosed.
Similarly, a middle aged woman, whose identity is yet to be known has been nabbed for goat theft at Galadima area, Airport, Ilorin, Kwara State.
It was learnt that the woman was earlier sighted roaming about in the area before she perpetrated the crime.
A resident, who simply identified himself as Korede, said the woman had solicited help of children in the area to help catch the goat on the pretext that it belonged to her.
” She gave the children salt to put in the goat’s mouth. However, one of the children who is aware of the implication of the action raised the alarm, which attracted people in the neighbourhood.”
The woman reportedly claimed the goat belonged to her but later confessed to the crime when the owner surfaced.
The suspect was later handed over to the police at Eiyekorin by members of the community.
