Mike Omotosho’s 71-yr-old mum speaks from kidnappers den

Abducted mother of the National Chairman of Labour Party (LP), Mrs Elizabeth Omotosho has spoken with the family over her ordeal, even as she said she was fine, National Pilot has authoritatively gathered.

Elizabeth, 71, and mother of Dr Mike Omotosho, who spoke to the former gubernatorial candidate in Kwara State, Monday morning when her abductors put her on phone said that she is doing fine when her son asked of her wellbeing.

Mrs Omotosho was kidnapped by suspected gunmen at her family house, Tanke area, Ilorin, between 7pm to 8pm on Sunday.

When this medium visited the family residence Wednesday, a prayer session organised by the family members was ongoing in order to seek divine intervention for the old woman’s release.

Narrating the incidence to our reporter, Miss Titilayo Omotosho, said the family was shocked by the development adding that the abductors have demanded N200 million  ransom for her release.

According to her, she went to church for fellowship meeting around 6:30pm on the fateful Sunday and returned 7:30pm.

“I was knocking at the gate when I came and there was no response. I couldn’t locate the security man, Luka Danladi and I thought he went to buy something outside the gate. Also my mother was not in her room. We were the only occupants of the house.

“I raised the alarm after searching the whole place and couldn’t find anyone. I went straight to police station to report after that”.

Miss Omotosho said Danladi later told them what transpired between him and the gunmen.

“Danladi said he was threatened by the gunmen who invaded the compound fully armed and ordered him to take them to mummy. He was told to cooperate, adding that they asked after me too.  They didn’t take anything away from the house, not even the car; all they wanted is our mother.

Titilayo communicated the incident to Mike Omotosho who subsequently contacted the state Commissioner of Police and the headquarters in Abuja.

She said they assured him they are working together to locate the woman’s whereabout adding that the police commissioner, Ado Lawan also came to the house immediately the signal was sent to him on the day of abduction.

Titilayo added that on Monday morning, the gunmen contacted Mike Omotosho with the mother’s mobile phone.

They told Mike that mama is fine, and they gave the phone to her to speak to her son.

She said she is fine and they terminated the call.

Titilayo stated further that, on Tuesday evening, the abductors called again and told Omotosho that, they need N200million for the release of their captive.

“Since then, we have not heard any information from them,” she submitted.

She further said people of the area are already suspecting a woman who normally pretends to be mad parading the area daily but she had disappeared after the incident.

Speaking on the development in his office, the Kwara State Commissioner of police, Ado Lawan said the Command is not aware of any ransom adding that, “the police is on top of the situation.”

“We don’t negotiate with criminals”, he added.

He said the command has put in place heavy security measures including intelligent officers, criminal investigators, anti kidnapping and anti cultists officers to arrest the kidnappers.

“We are trailing the suspects and investigation is on.”
