Stop using my name for campaigns, Emir warns politicians

The Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari has warned politicians to desist from using his name for political endorsement.

In a statement signed by the Magaji Nda of Ilorin, Alhaji Soliu Woru Muhammed and made available to National Pilot on Sunday, offenders and the stations concerned will be made to face the full wrath of the law if they desist from such act.

The statement read:

“It has been observed with great concern that some disgruntled politicians are dragging the revered name of the Emir of Ilorin, His Royal Highness, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, into mud water of politics during a radio programme in one of the Radio Stations in the state, mainly aimed at advertising their selfish political interest.

“Those concerned and their collaborators in the affected new radio station are warned to desist in using the name of the monarch in their campaign or programme or shall be made to face the full weight of the law while the affected radio station will be sanctioned by the appropriate authority”.
