Gold Cup Pre-season: Kwara, Lobi settle for draw
It was goalless affairs at the Kwara Stadium Complex, Ilorin on Wednesday as the host team of the ongoing Pre-season soccer competition tagged Gold Cup, Kwara United played barren draw with Lobi Stars of Makurdi.
The game, which saw both sides entertaining the fans at the stadia with good football ended with goalless after 90th of play.
Lobi, who are the defending champion controlled the first half with the last season’s NPFL highest goal scorer, Anthony Okpotu missed great opportunity to put his team in front.
Okpotu’s effort was denied by United defender after the Lobi striker dribbling passed Kwara goalkeeper.
On resumption, the home side came stronger after double substitution from Coach John Obuh, with former Nasarawa United striker, Kadiri Aminu changed the face of the game.
Kwara United was lucky not have conceded late minute goal after the visitors hit cross bar in the final minutes of the keenly contested game.
Earlier, Kano Pillars defeated Remo Stars 3-2 in the first game while the second game between Niger Tornadoes and MFM ended in goalless draw.
