Fire Outbreak: KWIRS commissions 40 shops in Ilorin market

The Executive Chairman of Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS), Dr. Muritala Awodun has commissioned 40 newly renovated shops at Baboko market in Ilorin, the state capital on Friday.
Recall that the shops were razed some months ago and reconstructed by Ilorin West Local Government under the leadership of the Transitional Implementation Committee Chairman, Alhaji Abdulwahab Ololele.
Speaking at the event, Awodun cautioned the traders against activities that could lead to fire disaster, urging them to ensure precautionary measures to prevent future occurrence.
He called on the traders to play their roles in the payment of tax, assuring that the state government would make the market environment conducive for business activities.
The Chairman of Ilorin West lauded the traders for their cooperation and the patience exercised before the renovation of the shops.
He urged them to work with staffers of the local government in ensuring security of the market and other basic amenities.
Meanwhile, KWIRS has commissioned two blocks of classrooms renovated by the agency at Government Girls’ Secondary School, Oko-Erin, and Ilorin on Friday.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Awodun said the renovation was as a result of the prize won as the second best school in 2016 Tax Quiz Competition.
He charged the teachers and students of the school to continue to put in their best in future competitions.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Alhaji Musa Yeketi, who was represented by the Deputy Director of School Services, Mr. Kayode Alabi, thanked the state government and the agency for impacting positively in the lives of future leaders.
Earlier, in her opening remarks, the Principal of the school, Alhaja Nimat Titilayo Mustapha thanked KWIRS for keeping to its promise and incorporating students needs in its Community Development Programmes.
