LP Nat’l Crisis: Remove sacked chairman’s name from your website, Omotosho tells INEC
The National Chairman of Labour Party, Mike Omotosho has called on the National headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remove the name of sacked former chairman, Alhaji AbdulKadir Abdulsalam from its website even as he said such action is creating confusion in the party.
AbdulKadir after his ouster by the party executive over alleged gross misconduct and embezzlement at its national convention last years had continued to lay claim to the position and still occupying the party’s Abuja secretariat.
But scores of protesters storm the INEC national headquarters on Tuesday calling for the commission to do the needful and replace the name of AbdulKadir with that of Omotosho on their website.
In an exclusive chart with Pilot Politics from Abuja, said it is disturbing and baffling that the name of the embattled former chair still occupies the website of the commission adding that a court injunction retraining him had already been secured on it.
He said that party voted to remove the embattled chairman with all the executives present at its national convention last year and wondered why INEC has not done the needful despite supervising the party’s national congress.
He however assured that the matter will be fully addressed and adequately resolve. He maintained that he remain the authentic chairman of the party.
In the court document filed before Abuja High Court Division numbered CR/90/2018 between Barrister Julius Abure and Chief Calistus Okafor (claimant) and AbdulKadir Abdulsalam (respondent), an electronic copy which was sent to Pilot Politics in Ilorin, the claimants sought an order of the court restraining the defendant from trespassing or stepping into the party’s office and stop interference with the properties of the party and the office pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
