The Kwara State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has lent its voice to the recent award of the Newspaper of the Year given to National Pilot by the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS), three weeks ago.
Speaking with our reporter in Ilorin, on Saturday, the NUT Chairman in the state, Alhaji Musa Abubakar said the award was long overdue, adding that, “I am not surprised by the award.
“Despite the fact that, National Pilot is a local newspaper, it has given us a balanced reportage over the years,” he stated.
According to him, the award is a further attestation to the objectivity and professionalism conduct of the medium.
“I wish the newspaper more glorious things to come. On behalf of teachers in Kwara State, accept our congratulations.”
In the same vein, the Chairperson of Ilorin West Local Government Hajia Romoke Omodara at the weekend applauded the management and staff of the medium over the award received from KWIRS.
Speaking at her office, Omodara said, “The award is not debatable, and to me it is purely merited”.
She said overtime, National Pilot has adhered strictly to the ethics of journalism especially in the area of balanced reportage. Omodara however urged the medium not to rest on its oars by sustaining its leadership in the media industry.
“On behalf of myself and the entire people of Ilorin West Local Government, we felicitate with your medium on this timely award,” she submitted.
