Former Nigeria Hockey captain, S&P dies at 70

Former Kwara United Masseur Mr Tunde Adeyemi alias S&P (Salt and Pepper) is dead, aged, 70.
He was reported to have slumped along the popular Ibrahim Taiwo Road Ilorin yesterday after he alighted from a bike on Wednesday afternoon.
Adeyemi, who captain Nigeria Hockey team for many years played alongside late Sheu Musa Yar’Adua, the Uncle to former Nigeria President.
The man popularly called ‘Salt and Pepper’ was a board member of Nigeria Hockey Federation and of Kwara State Hockey Association.
He served as a physiotherapist to Kwara Stars, Kwara United, Katsina United and also retired as a captain in Nigeria Army.
Adeyemi played a vital role in reviving the game of Hockey in Kwara and Nigeria at large.
Reacting to his death, the Veteran sports journalist, Mr. Bayour Issah, described his death as shocking and a great loss to the entire sports fraternity.
“He was a great man and sports enthusiast absence will be greatly missed in the sports circle,” Bayour said.
Also reacting, the General Secretary, Nigeria Professional Football League Club Owners, Alloy Chukwuemeka, said he played a vital role in reviving him when he had an accident.
“He played a vital role in reviving me when I had a fatal accident that caused me multiple fractures,” he recalled.
Also his former club, Kwara United FC, described his as a dedicated and hardworking staff during his time with the club.
The Chairman of Kwara United, Prince Oladimeji Thompson, who spoke through his Media Office, Abdulwaheed Bibire prayed to God to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable, loss.
Adeyemi, who hailed from Erinle, Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State is survived by children and great grandchildren.
