Several injured as hoodlums attack Osi market

Several number of persons were penultimate Tuesday injured when hoodlums invaded the main market in Osi, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State, Pilot Crime learnt.
The peaceful atmosphere of the market was disrupted when the hoodlums numbering four and armed with dangerous weapons were said to have unleashed terror on traders and patrons alike.
According to a police source, the case was reported at the F-SARS Annex 1 Omu-Aran by one Chief Afolayan of Oke-Ogba, Osi.
“He said that the hoodlums invaded the area with dangerous weapons distabilising the peace of the market as everybody scampered for safety to protect their lives.
“They beat villagers in the market mercilessly and injured those who did not cooperate with them. In the process, a villager was stabbed. Those who escaped rushed to the town to inform the community vigilantes.
“The vigilantes stormed the scene to arrest the situation which led to a gun duel. One of the hoodlums was nabbed while others escaped
“The complainant recalled that the hoodlums first invaded the market sometimes in January this year causing grievous harm to the villagers before the second attack,” the source added.
The suspect, 27-year-old Fatai Suleiman Idiagbon was reportedly handed over to operatives of F-SARS.
“During investigation, the suspect confessed to the crime and named other gang members as Dada,Timileyin, Azeez all of Osi village, who are now at large.
“The investigation also revealed that they have become threat to the community as a result of their hooliganism,” the source said.
However, the source further said that the suspect is working with the police to aid the arrest of other fleeing suspects.
When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer of the state Police Command, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi, said he was unaware of the matter.
