Alleged Anti-Party: Moshood Mustapha writes APC, to appear April 5

With Mumini Abdulkareem
Former member of the House of Representatives representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, Hon. Moshood Mustapha has officially written to the ward chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Alanamu seeking for more time to appear before the party over alleged anti-party activities.
The leadership of the APC in Alanamu had summoned the former legislative aide to Senate President, Bukola Saraki to come and explain his role in the allegation that he was planning to contest the 2019 gubernatorial race in the state under the platform of the opposition PDP.
Mustapha is yet to speak officially on the matter which had dominated political discussion in the state.
Although the letter was not sighted by our reporter, it was reliably gathered from impeccable sources very familiar with the issue that MM hinged his inability to appear to his unavailability in the country at the material time.
The reaction of the party to this latest development over the matter was not clear as another top party source who also declined to be named because of the sensitivity of the issue said the party will have to sit and determine the next line of action.
According to another source, Mustapha asked the party to give him few additional weeks to respond to the party’s summon.
However, a source from MM’s camp while speaking on the issue last night said as at the time the party’s letter of summon got to him, he was away in the country and he subsequently pleaded for more time.
The source said it was MM who asked the party to look for a convenient date that suits their discretion for him to appear when he gets back to the country.
“He has written officially to the party over the matter and has asked for additional time. He was supposed to appear on March 8, 2018 but wrote for an extension of time that will be convenient for the party in April.
“I think April 16 was being contemplated before the party reportedly settled for April 5 which is about 28days after the first date of March 8”, the source added.
Attempts to get the reaction of the APC chairman of Alanamu ward, Alhaji Jimoh Aliu AbdulRahman was not successful last night as he declined comment on the matter.
Similarly, the state chairman of the party, Hon Ishola Balogun-Fulani also refused to speak on the issue
