Ebuehi injured, doubtful for Eagles friendlies

Super Eagles and Ado Den Haag right-back Tyronne Ebuehi now faces a race against time to be fit for the March 23 international friendly between Nigeria and Poland in Wroclaw after he sustained a groin injury in Saturday’s 2-0 Dutch top flight defeat to NAC Breda.
Omroepwest.nl reported on Sunday that coach Alfons Groenendijk’s woes were further compounded after Ebuehi struggled with groin complaints and could not finish the match.
The defender is expected to undergo a scan on Monday to ascertain the level of his injury. Recovery time for groin injuries depends on the severity of the injury. A mild groin strain may recover within a few weeks, whereas a severe injury may take six weeks or longer to recover.
With the 22-year-old defender already part of coach Gernot Rohr’s 28-man squad for Super Eagles’ international friendly matches against Poland and Serbia, it remains to be seen if Ebuehi will be fit for the two clashes.
Ebuehi was a delight to watch in Nigeria’s 4-2 win over Argentina in November and has been tipped as one of Nigeria’s best discoveries under Rorh. He came on as a second half substitute for Shehu Abdullahi at right-back in the friendly in Krasnodar, Russia.
