Ambassador Abdulfattah paralympics games holds in Ilorin
The two days Paralympics Games organised by an Ilorin based NGO, Aims group and sponsored by Ambassador Abdulfatah Yahaya Seriki Gambari will hold in Ilorin the state capital, between 29th/30th of this month at the Indoor Sports Hall of the Kwara State Stadium complex, Ilorin.
Briefing Journalists at the Conference room of the State Sports Council, the Secretary of the Group Esther Eleojo disclosed that the two days sporting event is organised to encourage people with Special Needs and to also take a career in sporting activities, noting, the programme is borne out of passion, love and desire for people with disabilities.
Esther however, expressed appreciation for the unflinching support of the sports council, media and other stakeholders towards the programme.
According to the technical Chairman of the programme, Coach Kehinde Aiyelabegan, the two days programme will feature wheel chair tennis, Wheel table tennis, wheel chair Basketball, Bench press weightlifting and Para Badminton at the indoor sports centre of the Kwara State Stadium, Ilorin.
In his remark, the Sponsor of the event, Ambassador Abdul Fatah Yahaya Seriki Gambari lauded the Organisers for their determination and dedication to encourage people with special needs by involving and engaging them in useful ventures, stressing that he will continue to partner with relevant stakeholders to assist the less privileged.
Ambassador Seriki promised to make the event an annual sports programme as his contributions to the development of the sports sector, saying the forth coming inaugural edition will serve as template to build on.
In their good will messages, the Project Coordinator of Rotary Club Mr. Ayo Ajisefini lauded the programme initiator for their efforts as he pledged support towards a hitch free programme.
The Principal of the School for Special Needs, Mrs. Aroyehun urged other corporate organisations and Individuals to emulate Aims Group by assisting people with Special needs to encourage them to develop full fledge interest in Sports.
The Director of Sports, Coach Tunde Kazeem applauded Aims Group and Ambassador Seriki for their laudable initiative, stressing that the programme came at the right time when government is campaigning for Public Private Support for their Policies and Programmes, hence the need to Support the two days Paralympics Games.
Coach Kazeem, who used the occasion to highlight some of the achievements of the Council in retrospect, urged other corporate organisations to join hands with government and relevant stakeholders to build and develop a virile sports Sector in the state.
