Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed of Kwara State has stressed the need for a stronger relationship among various organisations in the state in the areas of civic social responsibility.
Governor Ahmed stated this while receiving the newly elected Global Vice President and Chairman African Region of the International Transport Federation (ITF) and the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Alhaji Najeemdeen Yasin at the Government House ilorin, the state capital.
He said a stronger relationship with the various organisations in the state will also strengthen the corporate social responsibility like the support the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KWIRS) is rendering to the state branch of the NURTW.
He assured that the state government will continue to strengthen and see the relationship as a platform for growth and development.
Governor Ahmed added that the leadership of the NURTW has always played a major role in averting clashes among members of the union in the state and charged them to see themselves as partners in peace and growth.
He commended Yasin for portraying himself as a good ambassador of Kwara in particular and Nigeria and Africa in general, adding that his new position was achieved through hard work and consistency.
Earlier, Yasin said he emerged as the Global Vice President and Chairman African region of the International Transport Federation (ITF) at the just concluded ninth edition of the conference.
He said the ITF is an organisation comprising of airways, maritime, railway and land transport workers with 750 affiliates in 135 countries with its headquarters in London and a regional office in Nairobi, Kenya.
The NURTW boss stated that he was at the Government House to seek blessings while assuring the governor to be a good ambassador of the state. He however expressed appreciation for the support the state government has rendered to the union in the state, especially the recent release of funds by KWIRS for the purchase of vehicles.
