Alanamu APC disowns Alabere, says no member decamp to PDP

Following the report making the rounds that about 800 members of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Alanamu ward had decamped to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, a group under the ruling party has denied the claim.
The Chairman of the state chapter of the PDP, Barr. Iyiola Oyedepo had claimed while receiving the North Central executives of the party that about 800 members of the APC led by one Hanafi Alabere from Alanamu ward decamped to his party.
But the group under the banner of the APC Joint Stakeholders in Alanamu ward, Ilorin West Local Government Area of the state, yesterday, denied the report adding the claim which dominated some social media platforms was baseless and untrue.
The group said there was no member of the APC bearing such name in Alanamu ward.
A statement issued by the stakeholders and signed by Hon. Kayode Omotose, said the party had found out that the said team leader does not undertake his political activities within the APC family.
It added that the attendance list of all meetings organised by the ruling party in the ward showed that there was no name of Alabere on it, adding that such an individual was never a card carrying member of the APC.
It further added that while it remains the inalienable rights of every Nigerian to pitch tent with any political party, it was wrong to single the leader of the said defectors as a member of the ruling party.
The statement reaffirmed its support for the APC leadership of the Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki and the administration of Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed in their efforts to steer the ship of the state to the desired harbour.
Members of the ruling party in Alanamu ward, the statement noted, have committed themselves to the ideals of the APC adding that no member of the party had defected to the opposition in the ward.
The statement reads in part: “APC Joint Stakeholders In Alanamu ward that include the headships of the ward executives, elders, youths, women have denied an online news that Dr Hanafi Alabere who reportedly decamped to PDP was a member of APC.
“Dr. Alabere does not undertake his political activities within the APC family. We have painstakingly rummaged the party registration list in our ward but his name does not appear anywhere and he does not carry APC card.
“To further crosscheck his so called claim to membership of APC, we carefully looked through the attendance list of all meetings since the inception of APC at the ward level, the three senatorial districts which we operate and all the 24 zones that exist, his name has never been on any of the lists.
“While it is the inalienable right of all Nigerians who so wish to belong to any political party of his or her choice, we strongly take exception to the wrong claims of Dr. Alabere belonging to APC in Alanamu ward.
“Alanamu ward remains solidly within the APC and we are committed to the leadership of the Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki and the government of Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed in Kwara State.”
