The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), yesterday, inaugurated a 20-man team for inspection and negotiation of rates for 2018 pilgrims’ accommodation in Saudi Arabia.
The Executive Chairman of NAHCON, Alhaji Abdullahi Muhammad, while inaugurating the team in Abuja, urged members to work as a team, co-ordinate well, and be thorough without compromising standards.
Muhammad stressed the need for the team to carry out comprehensive inspection of facilities that would ensure the comfort of intending pilgrims and also make appropriate recommendations to the commission for further negotiations with service providers.
According to him, there will be no benchmark rates this year.
He added that “all properties must be up to standard in terms of accessories for pilgrims to get value for their money.”
He advised states to merge and secure a single, high capacity and quality building to get good prices and also promote unity during Hajj.
The chairman also advised the team to co-ordinate and meet with landlords and agents for better negotiations that would not have much impact on Hajj fare.
He also tasked them to make inputs toward making the Hajj successful, adding that the templates given to them should serve as guide in determining the price of any building.
Responding on behalf of the team, the Commissioner in charge of Policy, Personnel, Management and Finance (PPMF), Dr Yusuf Adebayo, expressed appreciation to the chairman for giving them the opportunity to serve.
He assured that the team would discharge its duties without fear or favour and to the best of their abilities.
