The Inaugural edition of the Ebenezary Easter Games tagged Offa 2018 will kick-off in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara as from 28th to 31st March, 2018.
According to the games Technical Director, Mr. Niyi Tinuoye at the press briefing heralding the two days Sporting event at the Conference room of the sports council, noted that no fewer than 500 athletes is expected to participate at the maiden edition of the sporting fiesta.
He reiterated that the championship is organised to foster unity, discover talents and engage restive youth positively to bring development to Offa Local Government.
Tinuoye maintained that registration for the Games has Commenced among the participating districts which include Ojomu, Esha, Igbodun, Balogun and Sawo, noting the tournament will feature Athletics, 25 km marathon, Tennis, Table tennis, and Volleyball at Offa township Stadium.
Also Speaking the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Chief Olusegun Olawoyin stressed that the organisers are fully ready to partner relevant stakeholders including the Kwara State Government, Associations, federations particularly Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports in the attempt to Stage a befitting Championship to achieve grassroots sports development.
Chief Olusegun commended the sole sponsor of the games Prince Olusoji Olagunju for his zeal and determination to not only encourage grassroots sports but motivate youth to be active in sporting events as he pave way for opportunity for sports men and women in Offa to showcase their raw talents in the competition.
He pointed out that the talents discover in the forthcoming events will be nurtured and exposed to the outside world.
He praised the magnanimity of the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Okikiola and other Council Chiefs for their Royal blessings and unflinching Support towards the games as they pledged to organized an acceptable Championship.
