The Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, CON, is a great man, born very great and worked hard to maintain greatness. He is a medical doctor, a successful banker, a progressive and resourceful politician. His two term tenure as Kwara State Executive Governor speaks volume. During that memorable period, Kwara State recorded progressive achievements in all areas of good governance. The state was relatively peaceful and witnessed tremendous growth in both infrastructures and human development. The state also witnessed rapid development in areas of road construction; unemployment and graduate were provided with gainful employment, including the women-folks which led to drastic reduction in crime and criminality. Throughout the state, there was no discrimination in all areas of infrastructural development. In other words, there was massive road construction across the sixteen local government areas of Kwara state.
To fight crime and criminality across the state, the “BUKKY’” government as popularly referred to by his numerous supporters and apologists provided necessary support to the Kwara State Police Command. Available records showed that the police were provided with operational vehicles, communication gadgets and other necessary supports, thereby making the state a “No Go Area” for the men of the underworld, armed robbers and other criminals whom before Saraki’s assumption of office made lives unbearable for the citizens. Bukola’s dynamic administration made life bearable for the people who could then sleep on their beds with two eyes closed.
At that historical period, traders and business men and women carried out their legitimate businesses without entertaining any fear or molestation from the miscreants. The relationship between the government and the electorates was very cordial. The judiciary, which is the third arm of the government, enjoyed friendly support of the government as the judiciary conducted their function of adjudication easily and thus made the state achieve “Crime-Free State status.
