Serbia defeat, a learning curve for us – Mikel

Super Eagles skipper John Obi Mikel believes Tuesday’s 2-0 defeat to Serbia in an international friendly staged at The Hive in London should not be seen as a loss by Nigerians but a learning curve for the squad who are still being fine-tuned for the FIFA World Cup on June.
Mikel who last starred for the Super Eagles in a 4-2 thumping of Argentina last November failed to make it to the Nigerian camp for their two-legged friendlies against Poland and Serbia, having failed to secure travelling papers.
Mikel in an Instagram post said: “You don’t lose, you learn  I Looking forward to being back on the pitch for our remaining preparation games #SoarSuperEagles.”
An under-strength Super Eagles failed to fly in London on Tuesday night as two second-half goals by Serbian forward Aleksandr Mitrovic condemned Gernot Rohr to only his second defeat in 14 matches in charge of Nigeria.
Up next for the Super Eagles is another pre-World Cup warm-up fixture against Congo DR on May 27, 2018.
