How I intend to reshape Wrestling in Kwara – Association Chairman

The Chairman of Kwara Wresting Association, Augustus Ikenwa has disclosed how he intends to transform wrestling in the state.
Augustus, an ex- international stated this on Friday during a chat with our reporter in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
Augustus who said sports in the state has witnessed massive development in recent years, attributed the development to the presence of technocrats in the sector.
The Kwara Wrestling Association boss however promised to change the face of wrestling and to be fair to all actors in the sports in the state.
According to him, Kwara sports has witnessed a big evolution beyond what it used to be in the past.
He said, “Sports in Kwara State has grown geometrically compared to what it was in time memorial. There have been a mighty evolution in Sports in the state.
He added that Kwara has remained a frontline state in Nigeria with noble sportmen and women who had made the nation proud both at national and international events.
He lauded the effort of the immediate past Director of sports Coach Tunde Kazeem and the present Director of sports Coach Alarape for a superb understanding of the developmental needs of various sporting Associations.
Augustus however traced his contact and involvement in sports to passion as there wasn’t any financial inducement in the game during his active playing days.
“Football then and now is poles apart in terms of remuneration. I think my era was a transition period as I played with the likes of Charles Duku, Tunde Sanni, Sam Elijah, Nduka Ugbade, Golden Ajeboh, Mba Agbai, Victor Ezekwesili, Akin Olowokeere, Mike Omyemachare, Chinedu Odiari, Nicholas Ukadike, Monday Adam’s, Victor Ikpeba, Mutiu Adepoju, Jimoh Balogun, ” he affirmed.
