We’ve increased monitoring of domestic airlines – NCAA
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority stated that it has intensified surveillance on airlines operating in the country following recent incidents.
The Director-General, NCAA, Capt. Muhtar Usman, who stated this yesterday, in an interview with journalists at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, said the agency’s inspectors were now monitoring the activities of the airlines more, especially at the ramp.
He said, “We learnt from the recent major and minor incidents that occurred in the aviation industry within the year, and the lessons learnt will be put to use to prevent major calamities from happening. The year 2018 has been turbulent in the global aviation industry generally, with incidences and accidents.
“But the NCAA will sustain and improve on the safety level of the past years, while the safety recommendations of the Accident Investigation Bureau will be followed to improve safety in the system. We will continue to adhere strictly to the eight critical elements of the International Civil Aviation Organisation.”
Usman noted that the NCAA as a regulator had consistently carried out safety oversight functions on operating airlines in the country
