Despite Buhari’s presence in Daura, mammoth crowd attends PDP’s rally

 

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) north-west rally which held on Saturday in Katsina, President Muhammadu Buhari’s state, witnessed an unprecedented turnout.

In attendance were four PDP governors, Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state, Darius Ishaku of Taraba, Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom and Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe.

Also present at the rally were past governors of Niger state and Jigawa, Babangida Aliyu and Sule Lamido.

Interestingly, President Muhammadu Buhari was in his country home in Daura while the rally was ongoing.

According to NAN, he, alongside some of his aides, returned to the federal capital territory at 11.28am on Sunday.

Commenting on the huge turn out for the rally, Atiku Abubakar, former vice-president, thanked the party’s executive in a Twitter post.

“The NWC of PDP ably led by Prince Uche Secondus; Deputy National Chairman (North), Sen. Gamawa Babawo Garba, Zonal executives and chieftains and millions of our party faithful deserve commendation for the huge success of the PDP Northwest rally in Katsina,” he wrote.
