Avoid confrontation with govt, Kwara NUP chair warns pensioners
The newly sworn-in Chairman of the Kwara State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Alhaji Saidu Oladimeji, yesterday, urged Pensioners in the state to shun confrontation with the state government over their grievances.
Oladimeji, who retired from local government service, gave the admonition in his acceptance speech after the swearing in as the new state Chairman of the Union alongside other executive members.
He noted that no meaningful progress or development could be attained in an atmosphere of chaos and acrimony and therefore urged pensioners to desist from acts that can impede peace in the state.
The new Chairman also appealed to council’s bosses in the state to address problem of pension and gratuities to retirees from the 16 local governments in the state.
He commended Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed for assisting the councils in solving the problem of salaries backlog and pensions arrears.
Oladimeji solicited the support of pensioners in the state to enable the new executive champion their cause aimed at uplifting their standard of living.
