The Rector of International Aviation College (IAC) Ilorin, Capt. Abdulmumini Abdulkareem has disassociated the college from the BigBrother Naija Reality Television Show that led to the emergence of one of his pilot trainee, Miracle Ikechukwu Igbokwe as winner of the 2018 edition with a N45 million grand prize.
The Rector stressed that the television show has no moral values and lesson to add to the society.
Hence, he said Miracle cannot be described as a good ambassador of the college judging by his escapades at the competition which lasted 85 days.
Speaking further in a telephone chat yesterday, the Rector said, “We are not proud of him. What moral lessons were learnt there when people come to the stage to expose themselves physically?
“Please we don’t want to associate the college with such acts,” he submitted.
On his part, a classmate of Miracle at the IAC, Usman Abubakar Marafa stressed that he was not surprised
his closest friend emerged the winner of BBNaija.
According to Marafa, Miracle as the class governor was highly intelligent, humble and a comedian who easily gets along with his colleagues.
He said, “Miracle was our class Governor and we were only four in the class. We just completed the first stage of our training in Private Pilot License (PPL) and we will soon start the Commercial Pilot License (CPL).
“The two other members of our class are in the United States and Canada to run their CPL. It is only me and miracle that are in Nigeria.
“I will soon resume at IAC for my CPL but Miracle is yet to roundup his PPL programme.
“At the moment, a lot of celebrities, politicians are moving him (Miracle) around the country. He is also being inundated by calls of high profile ladies. I am however sure my friend will return soon to complete the programme before starting his CPL.”
Marafa disclosed that they secured admission into the college in March 2016 and commenced the training the following month.
Speaking further, he said, “Myself and Miracle fight a lot but he remains my best friend. Even when we went for the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) examination in Lagos, we slept in the same hotel room.
“I knew Miracle was going to win because he is very hardworking and he can easily adapts to new environment. I know his ability and if there is anything beyond the TV show, he will win.”
Also speaking, on condition of anonymity, a management staff of IAC described him as an easygoing student who was at a time confronted with some financial challenges which made him abandon his programme to source for funds for his school fees.
The source said, “Last year, he had some financial challenges and he left to source for funds before returning later. He was even in the school this year.
“He is very kind and easygoing boy. He has never complained about anything to me and I believe he can tolerate situations.
“The school was aware of his prospects, myself and some of the students all campaigned for him in our own little way. We do watch him on TV in the school with other students. He really has a vision and the plan to go higher in life.”
Meanwhile, efforts to speak with Miracle proved abortive as calls put through his mobile phones and text messages sent to him were not responded before this paper went to bed.
In a related development, a foremost comedian, Ajele Adeyemi, better known as MC Ajele, has promised to present a car 2014 Toyota Venza and cash to the BB Naija winner, Miracle.
Ajele, who is an ardent fan of the 24-year-old pilot trainee announced this via his Twitter handle prior the moment Miracle was declared the winner.
“I don’t do this usually because I believe if you want to help people keep the camera at home. Miracle either you win or lose I have a Toyota Venza 2014 model with a small cash for you. Try to contact me,” Ajele tweeted.
Miracle’s goodwill and attitude throughout the 85 days he spent with his colleagues in the house earned him so much support and votes, hence his emergence.
