Justice Mustapha Akanbi’s son, ex-chair Ilorin NBA shortlisted for SANship

Prof. Mohammed Akanbi, son of a prominent jurist, Mustapha Akanbi, and former chairman of the Ilorin branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Prof. Wahab Egbewole have been shortlisted alongside 62 others for the conferment of 2018 Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SAN).

Recall that the two members of the Ilorin NBA were shortlisted last year by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee but were not conferred with the most noble rank in the legal profession.

Akanbi, whose father was the pioneer chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) as well as the former President, Court of Appeal is a professor of Arbitration.

He was the chairman of the Ilorin NBA between 2007 and 2009 and former Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Ilorin. He is currently the Director of Remedial Studies of the institution.

The Don, who was called to bar in 1996, has been staff of the University of Ilorin, ‘Better By Far’ university since 1997.

Egbewole, who bagged his professorship in International Law is also the former chairman of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Unilorin.

He was chairman of Ilorin NBA between 2003 and 2005 and was called to the Nigerian bar in 1985.

Other legal practitioners shortlisted from the advocate category include; Wole Seun Agunbiade, Isiaka Abiola Olagunju among several others.
