Contractor handling the Computer Village project in Ilorin, Kwara State will go back to site next week, Pilot Business has learnt.

The Acting Head, Corporate Affairs, Harmony Holdings Ltd, Mr. Tunde Bodunde, disclosed this during a chat with our reporter in his office last Wednesday.

Recall that the project had suffered setback as it was abandoned for about a year by the contractor handling it.

Speaking on the project, he said the first phase had been completed, adding that the next stage would commence next week, noting that investigation of the company by the state lawmakers stalled the process.

“Upon completion of first phase, the issue of investigation of activities of Harmony Holding Ltd by the Kwara State House of Assembly started, which impeded the implementation of the second phase of construction,” he explained.

Bodunde said: “Work is expected to begin on the site, while pace of work will be accelerated to ensure timely completion.”

He stated that the project, when completed will generate 300 direct jobs and additional 300 jobs under the second phase.

“The Kwara computer village will host a cluster of high-tech businesses, and associated businesses and a general changing consumer taste that favours Information Technology (IT) related businesses which makes acquisition of space in our first of its kind IT edifice an attractive investment proposition for savvy investors.

“Harmony computer village will be first of its kind, not just in Kwara but nationally. The edifice will sit on a 4,600 square meters of land,” he added.

The computer village project was flagged off by the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed in 2016 with the aim to boost the economy of the state through IT business.
