 3 Kwara ping pongers  selected for AYG trials

Three Kwara ping pingers, Rofiat Jimoh, Iyanuoluwa Falana and Sukurat Aiyelabegan, have been selected for the final round of trials ahead of the Africa Youth Games (AYG)
Receiving the athletes at a mini reception at the Conference Room of the Kwara State Sports Council on Monday, the Director of Sports, Mallam Tunde Kazeem changed the athletes to work harder to make the final cut for the Games schedule to hold in July this year.
He commended them for the feat, reminding them that it’s not over until the final list is drawn.
The trio came first, second and third respectively in the trials, which was to select athletes for both the AYG and the Youth Olympics holding in Argentina later in the year.
“You have done well to reach this crucial stage, where you need to put in extra effort during the final trial, because it’s not over yet”, he said.
While praising the table tennis association, which he classified as a Grade A association, he commented veteran players who include Sola Owolabi, Col. Ola Falade, Shuaib Orisankoko, Hon Hassan Oyeleke and Hon Kayode Abdulwahab Omotose among others, for their support to the development of the sport in Kwara and Nigeria.
He commented the state government for its investment in youth and sports development, as well as paving the way for healthy discovery of talents in the state.
The team was led to the trials by Coach Kehinde Aiyelabegan.
Meanwhile, Kwara state has listed 12 players for the forthcoming Aso National Table Tennis Championship, scheduled for Abuja between May 3rd and 9th, 2018.
Making the list available to journalists, the Director of Sports, Mallam Tunde Kazeem said that Kwara has a reservoir of talented young players that can rule Nigeria for a long period.
The players are Tobi Falana, Taiye Jimoh, Rofiat Jimoh, Iyanuoluwa Falana, Sukurat Aiyelabegan, Bisola Asaju, Basit Abdulfatai, Awawu Saidu, Aishat Ahmed, Babatunde Ogunfowora, Sanni Abdulrahman and Olamilekan Abeeb.
The team will be handled by Coach Kehinde Aiyelabegan
