Basketball: Falcons off to a flying start beat Oluyole Warriors
Kwara Falcons Basketball Club on Sunday opened their Atlantic Conference regular season campaign with a win over arch rivals Oluyole Warriors with 83-60 win in Coach Lateef Erinfolami’s official debut.
Falcons Mojuba Oyeleye spearheaded his team with 13 points, eight rebounds and two assist while Mustapha Oyebanji, Anaiye Johnson and Chinedu Chimbuo also contributed 13, 13 and 12 points respectively.
Oyebanji Ibrahim also put up a splendid performance to lead Oluyole warriors scoring chart with 12 points while Muhammed Umar and Aribiyun Sunday contributed 9 points each.
The home side took all the quarters with a 19-15 points win in the first quarter, 36-32 win in the second quarter, 59-51 win in the third quarter before fighting hard to consolidate in the last quarter with 83-60 win to wrap up the game.
Falcons head coach Lateef Erinfolami shared his thoughts after the game:
“We thank God for win. It was not an easy one for us, you could see from the first three quarters but we found our rhythm in the last quarter”
“Also you see that the performance was not that great because some of the players just came in and are yet to gel but with time and hard work we shall get there”, He concluded.
