New Arsenal boss advised to offload Iwobi, Cech, Ozil

Tony Cascarino has urged new Arsenal manager Unai Emery to get rid of the Nigeria forward Alex Iwobi and eight other players at the club.

Emery was named Arsenal manager on Wednesday to replace Arsene Wenger who left the position at the end of the season.

Unai Emery is targeting a return to the UEFA Champions League with Arsenal following his appointment as the new manager of the club.

The Spaniard was announced as Arsene Wenger’s successor on Wednesday following the Frenchman’s departure after 22 years at the club.

Arsenal finished in the sixth position in the Premier League last season and will play in the Europa League for a second consecutive season. Emery however said a return to the top four is vital.

“Our objective is to be among the best teams in Europe, to win titles and to be in the elite of European teams,” he said in his maiden press conference as Arsenal boss on Wednesday.

“I also want the team to make the fans proud. I know they are already and I want them to be even more so.

“I believe in the players who are here. The objective is to work hard together.

“That is very important for the club after two years outside the Champions League to work in this way. To be the best club, the best team in the Premier League and also in the world.”

The North London club have been limited to three FA Cups over the last decade and have rarely competed for the title during that period.

However, Emery claimed he intends to make Arsenal more competitive, both at home and abroad.

Emery also stated that he would not be drawn on the club’s plans in the transfer market this summer, saying he needed to speak to the players individually.
