26-yr-old arrested for N1m fraud in Ilorin

A 26-year-old, Arimokwu Oriekwe has been arrested by operatives of the Kwara State Police command for allegedly defrauding one Femi Soyemi of N1,000,000, in Ilorin, penultimate  Monday.

The suspect was said to have introduced the victim to an investment platform, Global Endorsement, in which the latter invested the initial sum of half a million naira.

According to a police source, “The suspect deceived Soyemi lying that the platform affiliated to Aproco TV net, deals in Forex/Binary trading. The victim credited an account number1020589699 that bore the name Aproco TV net with N500,000.

“He was then assured of 30per cent yield on his investment. After waiting for a while and there was no development, he put a call through to the company to lodge complaint and was asked to pay another payment of N500,000 before The investment could start yielding profit.

“He was told to pay the sum into three accounts  2054795312 UBA owned by Angela Okafor; UBA 2068449919  with account name Victor James UBA and 0136533901 GTB owned by Ojo Ademola.”

Soyemi on suspecting that he had been scammed reported the case to the police, which led to the arrest of the suspect.

The source disclosed that during investigation the suspect confessed to have deceived his victim into paying the money into the accounts, which he thereafter converted to personal use.

“Investigation is ongoing and the policemen in charge of the case are trying to get the suspect to refund the money. The suspect has also given lead for the possible arrest of his accomplices.”

Effort to contact the state Police Spokesperson, DSP Ajayi Okasanmi on the case proved abortive as calls to his mobile phone were not picked and text messages not acknowledged at the time of filing this report.
