Fees Hike: Kwarapoly refunds students

The management of Kwara State Polytechnic has commenced the refund of the 50 per cent school fees reduction of the tuition fees of 2017/2018 session, to students.

This was revealed by the Rector of the polytechnic, Alhaji Masu’d Elelu during the third edition of Iftar organised by the institution last Thursday.

Recall that the state Governor, Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed had given directive for the reduction, following protest over fees hike by students late last year.

The rector who stressed that the remittance is in compliance with state governments’ order, said a huge number of affected students have been duly refunded.

He disclosed that the exercise, which will span over four months, commenced in May and expected to be rounded up in August, as promised.

With the refunding, the rector noted that the students now pay far below the tuition fees of the 2016/2017 academic session.

Speaking on the achievements of his administration Elelu said, 47 projects have been successfully implement, with some aimed at realising the revenue generation drive of the polytechnic.

He added that all arrangements have been concluded for the commencement of e-learning programme by the institution before end of the year.

In the area of security, Elelu disclosed that a total number of 180 security operatives are deployed to maintain peace on the school campuses.

He stated that the prevailing peace has consequently resulted in interrupted academic sessions, thereby making the institution the most sought after polytechnic in the country.
