Inculcate cultural values in your children, parents urged

The need for parents and guardians to inculcate cultural values in their children and wards respectively has been stressed.
This form the thrust of the sermon delivered by the Presiding Pastor of Potters Porch International Churches, John Taiye Aboyeji during the special Sunday service to commemorate Children’s Day, yesterday.
According to the pastor, Nigeria is blessed with rich cultures that encourages morals and in particular respect for elders.
In the sermon titled, “My children shall be great,” he said the greatness of a child is attached to his or her foundation.
“The best time to guide your children is now that they are very young; to guide them and pattern their lives.
“If we fail to guide and direct them now, they will not be there in future to cater for us in our old ages.
He admonished parents to devote their time and wealth for the training of their children, adding that the use of rod as instrument of correction should be minimised.
“There should be more counselling than beating. Speak into their lives, pray for them and correct them in love.
“There is no child that cannot succeed in life. Therefore they should be guided and prayed for. Train them spiritually; in the way of the Lord, train them to fear God.
Pastor Aboyeji also implored parents and guardians to be role models to their children, adding that they should live exemplary lives worthy of emulation.

Parents and Guardians have again been charged to lay solid foundation to ensure the proper upbringing of the children.
A Cleric, Evangelist Mercy Taiwo-Olusegun gave the charge today in his sermon delivered at the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Ilorin District Headquarters as part of activities marking this year’s Children’s day and Children Sunday School anniversary.
Evangelist Taiwo-Olusegun called on them to discipline children in the right way when the need arises and teach them the way of the Lord.
The cleric charged children to honour their parents and obey constituted authority to ensure a brighter future for them and the nation.
He urged the three tiers of government to provide the enabling environment for the people particularly health care and education for the younger ones to flourish in their pursuit.
Pastor Taiye Aransiola of United Evangelical Miracle Church Off Yidi Road Ilorin who dwelled on the topic “Do Not Curse The Rulers” advised Nigerians to stop the habit of speaking negatively about their leaders urging them to pray for them on a daily basis.
Pastor Aransiola charged them to be submissive to their leaders with the fear of God to ensure peace and development of the country.
The Minister in charge of Presbyterian Church of Nigeria.City of Grace Congregation, Obbo road Ilorin, Reverend Kelechi Odii in his message titled “Children of the word of God” taken from the book of Luke chapter 2 verse 49 called on parents to embrace the truth and take proper care of the children who are precious gifts from God.
Reverend Odii challenged parents to teach their children the word of God to make the country free of corruption and other vices.
Prophetess Monisola Olayemi of the Royal Family Tabanacle of Praise C & S Church, Ita-Elepa junction, Ilorin emphasised the need for faithfuls to be Holy and abide by the will of God.
Pastor Aremu Abioye of the Ark of God Covenant Faith Bible Ministry, Amayo appealed to Nigerians to be their brothers keeper as he who love God must love his neighbours regardless of differences.
Prophet Peter Kolawole Williams of the C. A . C.Faith Chapel along Asa-dam road Ilorin warned people against hate speech rather they should be holy in their utterances at all times.
