I dumped federal job for business – CEO Lanre Hassan & Co.
Believing in oneself remains a prerequisite for success in life. This can be said to be winning streak of the Chief Executive Officer of Lanre Hassan & Co., Lanre Hassan, one of the foremost estate surveyors and valuers in Kwara State and beyond.
He identifies courage and determination as propelling force towards proffering solutions to immediate societal problems, which can be achieved through entrepreneurial skills.
The graduate of Estate Management Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife Osun State said he dumped a Federal Government to pursue his passion about a decade ago. He started a business in his career with the aim of providing quality service to people.
According to him, his experience was brought to bear, which attracted clients, adding that he started his business from his bedroom with just a laptop.
Hassan who bagged revealed HND in Urban and Regional Planning, said he proceeded for his second degree in Estate Management in order to realise his dream as an employer of labour.
He said “I studied the curriculum well and went for a course that can help me trade in real estate, which has professional codes of conduct that has to be licensed to practitioners. I had to resign from federal government job to focus on real estate business.
“People were surprised that despite job scarcity in the country I resigned from my employment but I made it clear to them that the vision I have is greater than the civil service job. I want to employ people too and be paying them salary not someone paying me,” he added.
He revealed that the secret of his success in business lies on the motto of the profession ‘Honesty and Devotion’.
“We deal with owners of properties therefore, an estate surveyor and valuer can only win their hearts through honesty and devotion. The clients need to trust and believe that their property is in safe hands.
He, however, called on youths to engage in one vocational job for economic gain and provide service to the society instead of waiting for limited white-collar jobs.
Hassan is the Kwara State Chairman of Nigeria Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV).
