JAAC: Kwara 16LGs share N878.5m for May

 

The Kwara State 16 Local Government Areas shared a total sum of N878,562,655.86 for the month of May 2018 being federal allocation.

The State Universal Education Board (SUBEB) teachers also got N1,071,684,542.32 billion from this month allocation.

The ALGON Chairman who is also Chairman of Oyun LG, Comrade Joshua Omokanye disclosed these while addressing newsmen on Monday after the state monthly Joint Accounts Allocation Committee (JAAC) meeting held at the Ministry of Finance Conference Hall, Ilorin.

He explained that the committee also agreed to share additional inflow of refund of Excess Bank charges fund of N1,732,893.89.

According to him, the committee also agreed to prioritise local government staff, traditional chiefs salaries and pensions, saying that all categories of LGs workers, SUBEB, Pensioners would receive full salaries this month.

He said that LG & LGEA pensioners would receive full pensions this month as the amount stood at N458,184,637.52 ,revealing that 10 per cent IGR from state government of N49,610,341.94 and Value Added Tax (VAT) of N473,961,740.11 were also shared.

The ALGON boss explained that statutory allocation for the month of May stood at N2,169,912,676.93 as against N1,746,457,018.06 in previous month.

The chairman explained that the fund was appropriated in line with law guiding the local government account which included; Teachers salary N1,071,684,542.32 ;LG and LGEA pension N458,184,637.52 among others.

He revealed that the sum of N279,646,975.46 was deducted at source as repayment for the loan  the councils obtained  .

He also explained that the distribution of the allocations among the Local Government Councils in the state was done in accordance with section 4(2) of the state Joint Local Government Account Law (cap80) as amended by Law 15 of 2001.
