Armed Robbery: Kwara Police arrests 9

Men of Kwara State Police Command have arrested nine people in connection to a robbery attack at Shonga, Kwara State, penultimate Tuesday.
The suspects are Ahmed Audu; Babaji Limam; Abdullahi Mohammed and Mohammed Kolo.
Others are Mohammed Gana; Mohammed Adamu; Abdullahi Mohammed; Haruna Diplo and Ndaji Shaaba.
The suspects were said to have waylaid their victims and dispossessed them of their valuables and inflicted them with injury.
According to police source, the case was reported at the police divisional headquarters in Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area of the State by one Solihu Abubakar and 14 others of Chiji Vilage via Songa.
“Sometime in April while the victims were returning from Shonga market with motorcycles and Mazda 323 car respectively ran into a gang of armed robbers.
“The suspects blocked the only access road linking Tada, Kusogi and Chiji Villages with Shonga at Kpataringi Hausa settlement. They attacked, wounded and robbed the people of their belongings.
“They collected handsets, money and other valuables. The robbers destroyed 14 Bajaj motorcycles and the Mazda 323,” he further said.
The source disclosed that the victims were able to give names of some of the suspects, which led to their arrest by the police at different locations in Shonga following tip off.
He said those who are at large are Audu Wawu, Dauda, Nda Jebba, Etsudzan, Nda Abu and Alhaji Jebba.
Others are Etsu Yank Pan, Danlami, Ali, Tsadu, Dyedye Tetegi, Umar, Eba Nna and Nda Mokwa Santa.
The source added that the suspects were transferred to the state Police headquarters in Ilorin for further interrogation at the Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
“Further investigation revealed that the arrested suspects and others who are now at large are armed bandits. They confessed to have criminally conspired to attack the victims and robbed them of their valuables.
“They have also given lead that could lead to arrest of other suspects,” he stated.
Efforts to contact the State Police Spokes person DSP Ajayi Okasanmi on the development proved abortive as the text and calls put to his call did not go through.
