Holy Trinity Anglican Church celebrates 35th anniversary

 

…as Christians urged to exalt God always

Members of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Kulende, Ilorin, has been charged to appreciate God, through whose grace the church is celebrating its 35th  anniversary of existence as a church and attendant blessings.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Director, Information of the church, Mr. Demola Olarewaju.

According to the statement, the Bishop of Diocese of Omu-Aran, Right Reverend Philips Adeyemo, gave the charge during the Founder’s day celebration of the church, recently.

It added that he stressed that the church in the course of its existence has recorded tremendous achievements, spiritual growth and population increase, to the glory of God.

“Bishop Adeyemo who chose his text from Psalm 118 verse 23 for his sermon titled: “Give Thanks to God at All Time,” stressed the need for the congregation to give gratitude to God for His grace and mercies over the church and its people.

“He urged members of the congregation to show love towards one another and particularly the church of God through their tithes and offerings, for the work of evangelism to progress and to receive showers of blessings accruable from the gesture.

“While congratulating the congregation on the auspicious occasion of the Founder’s Day celebration, quoting from the book of Colossians chapter 1 verses 12-13 Adeyemo admonished the church to always remember to thank God who has delivered  them from the powers of darkness and in turn made them the partaker of the inheritance of the saints.

“Earlier, in his welcome address, the Vicar- in -charge of the church, Rev. Canon Cornelius Amusan was full of gratitude to God for the grace of witnessing the Founder’s Day, which he said was significant due to the fact that the church has been able to pay up its long outstanding assessment levy, to enable it embark on other developmental projects,” the statement further said.

It added that  a foundation member of the church, Chief (Mrs.) Juliana Ebun Carpenter disclosed that  Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Kulende and the Headquarters of Kulende Archdeaconry was founded in the month of May, 1983 through the Diocese’s decision.

“She thanked God for seeing the church thus far, with an affirmation that God of Anglican is a prayer answering God and so proud to be a confirmed Anglican, with a compassionate and special request that she be buried within the church premises on account of death, subject to the approval of the Diocesan Bishop, Most Rev. (Dr.) Olusegun Adedayo Adeyemi.”
