Kwara Commissioner calls for staff professionalism
Civil servants in Kwara State have been urged to be proactive and to demonstrate high sense of professionalism in the discharge of their duties, to further strengthen the nation’s democratic governance.
The new Commissioner for Environment and Forestry, Mr Justus Santo Amos, gave the advice in Ilorin, while addressing Staff of his Ministry on Friday.
Amos, who described civil servants as the pivot of any democratic government, observed that the country’s democratic government can only be meaningful to Nigerians, through a vibrant, dedicated and highly professional civil service.
He therefore promised to run an open door policy, which he said would provide enabling environment for employees of the ministry, to perform optimally, in order to restore the aesthetic value of the state.
The commissioner stressed that residents of the state can only remain healthier, in a clean and decent environment even as he promised to check indiscriminate felling of economic trees in Kwara by implementing laws towards restoring the state’s eco- system and to prevent degradation and global warming.
He therefore solicited the support of the staff of the Ministry, in ensuring the realisation of the set goals, to enable him consolidate on the performance of his predecessors.
Responding, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Alhaji Al- Amin, promised the loyalty of the staff towards the attainment of the set goals.
