Eagles not ready for World Cup -Rohr
Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has said his team is not ready for the World Cup following another 0-1 loss to Czech Republic in yesterday’s build up match.
Rohr who watched his side slump to another defeat — his fourth since he took charge of the team two years ago — admitted after the defeat that his lads are not ready to face Croatia.
“We’ve nine days to be ready for our first match against Croatia, as at today we are not ready,” Rohr was quoted on the official Twitter handle of the Super Eagles.
“I am not sad because of this result, the result that matters will be in Russia.”
Nigeria will take on Croatia in their first game in Group D before battling Iceland and Argentina.
…how Nigeria rated Vs Czech Rep
Here are the ratings of Super Eagles players following their 1-0 defeat against Czech Republic on Wednesday in their final warm-up friendly before the World Cup.
Francis Uzoho 6/10
Looked more composed than in previous outings for the Super Eagles. Made two excellent saves in the game and has certainly made the goalkeeping position his own. The Czech Republic goal was not his fault.
Shehu Abdullahi 4/10
A slight improvement from his woeful showing against England but still no way near his best form.
Leon Balogun 5/10
Troubled at times by the opponents but still posted an above average performance.
William Troost-Ekong 6/10
Stood firm when the team was under pressure, especially in the first half. He was Nigeria’s best defender in the game.
Bryan Idowu 4/10
The Amkar Perm of Russia defender failed to impress in the game. He was caught out of position at times and his final ball on the overlap was awful.
Wilfred Ndidi 6/10
Looked sharp on his return from harmstring injury but could not prevent his team from going down to a third consecutive defeat.
John Ogu 6/10
Showed his strength as a part of a three-man midfield in the first half and his versatility when the team switched to 3-5-2 after the break when he played as a third centre-back.
Mikel Obi 5/10
Toiled hard to impress in the game with little or no success. He will need to raise his game for the team to make an impact at the World Cup.
Alex Iwobi 6/10
Didn’t hit the standard he set in the previous game against England but one of Super Eagles’ top performers in the game.
Victor Moses 5/10
A slight improvement from the previous game against England but it was not enough to sway the outcome of the game in his side’s favour.
Odion Ighalo 5/10
Missed a number of goal scoring opportunities in the game. He looked fitter and sharper in the game but did not trouble the Czech defence much.
Substitutes
Elderson Echiejile 5/10
Made overlapping runs upfront and added bite to the left-side of the team’s attack following his introduction.
Tyronne Ebuehi 5/10
Showed his class once again after his introduction in the second half. He was unlucky not have won a penalty for the team following a foul on him.
Simy Nwankwo 3/10
Did little to affect the game following his introduction for Odion Ighalo.
Ahmed Musa 3/10
He didn’t have any effect in the game because he Came in too late.
Kelechi Iheanacho
