Kwara APC inaugurates state excos, LG Chairmen
The Kwara state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday inaugurated the new executive members of the party.
The party also inaugurated all the sixteen local government chairmen of the party at a brief ceremony held at the party’s secretariat, GRA, Ilorin.
A state counsel, Barrister Olanrewaju Afeez Yusuf administered the oath of office on the 36 members of the state executive and 16 local government chairmen of the party.
Speaking during the brief swearing-in ceremony, the state chairman of the party, Hon. Ishola Balogun-Fulani, advised new members of the executive to carry along every member to move the party forward.
He also admonished the party leaders to embark on reconciliation among members where and when necessary to assuage feelings of any aggrieved member.
The APC chairman also charged the new executive members to be accountable and transparent in their dealings, adding that their performance in offiace would attract more members to the party.
He described forthcoming 2019 general elections as a crucial one in the state, calling on them to work for the success of all representatives of the party in the elections.
Recall that the national leadership of the party on Monday released the result of the state congress held across the country and failed to recognised the parallel congresses.
The release of the results followed the party’s national spokesperson comment that all parallel congresses are exercise in futility and will not be recognised by the leadership of the party.
The parallel exercise in Kwara produced Basher Bolarinwa as chairman along with other party executives.
Minister of Information, Moshood Mustapha among other factional APC leaders conducted the exercise held at Arca Santa Event Hall, Ilorin.
…Ilorin West new party chair promises continuity, consolidation
The newly elected chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ilorin West, Hon Amin Muhammed Akota has promised to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor.
Akota who noted this during the handing over ceremony from former chairman, Hon Olanrewaj Bala also said the ne changes to be introduce by his administration was not to rubbished what the former chairman has done but to build on it because they are all partners in progress.
Akota who is one of the youngest chairmen of council, said he is determined to build on what Alhaji Bala left as a grasssrooter from the same Baba Saraki dynasty with him.
While thanking the leader of the party, Dr Bukola Saraki for the opportunity given him to serve, Akota called on the stakeholders of the party in the council not to “abandon us” but continue to render useful advice where necessary adding that “we are not perfect”.
“But all the new things we have promised to do should not be seen as an indictment on the past executive but improvement on the process that he started
“I urged the ward chairmen to reach out to the grassroots and bring everybody on board like ex-councillor and supervisors who are not usually counted as stakeholders. They will be called to contribute to the party at the local level and we also want the state to do same by calling them to contribute to the progress of the party.
In his remarks, the former chairman thanked Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki and other leaders in Ilorin West for giving him the chance to serve adding that with the support of notable elders like Alhaji Sadu Agaka, Alhaji Saka Opobiyi and Barrister Saka Isau (SAN) among others, he had no doubt that those incoming will not disappoint.
Local Government chairman of the council, Hajia Aminat Omodara who was represented by the Vice Chairman, Hon Saliu Yusuf advised the new executives to work hard to overcome the challenges ahead at this crucial time especially with a grassrooter at the helm of affairs.
