Guardiola labels Toure a liar over claims about African Players
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hit back at Cote d’Ivoire midfielder Yaya Toure over his claims that the Spaniard has a problem with African players, describing it as lies.
Toure made the sensational accusations in a recent interview with France Football after leaving Manchester City last season.
However, players like Eidur Gudjohnsen (who played under Guardiola at Barcelona) and Kevin De Bruyne had come out in defence of Guardiola.
Reacting to Toure’s accusations, the City boss told Catalan station TV3: “They were lies and he knows it.
“We were together for two years and he says it now — he never told me to my face.”
The duo had previously worked together at Barcelona but endured an estranged relationship in the twilight of Toure’s career at the Etihad.
After a disappointing debut season in the Premier League, Pep led Manchester City to the league and Cup double last season.
